William Irvin Willyard, 69, of 1806 Asbury Place, Owensboro, KY, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on April 11, 1936 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Forest and Virginia (Hines) Willyard. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service and was the owner and operator of Bill?s Dinner Bell at Hawesway Truck Stop. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Masonic Lodge and was a Kentucky Colonel. He had been a member of Windridge Country Club for many years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Willyard, in 1975.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Sweeney Willyard; a son and daughter-in-law, William B. ?Chip? and Sara Willyard of Owensboro; a daughter, Pam Mason of Owensboro; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a brother, Robert Willyard of California.
Services are at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
