Pat Booker nee McCarthy of Cook Station, Missouri was born in Owensboro,
Kentucky on Thursday, November 25, 1948 to JC McCarthy and Eva Murrell
(Hines) McCarthy and passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the age of 61
years, 6 months and 1 day.
She married Vernon Booker on June 28, 1967 in E. St. Louis, Missouri and to
this union four children were born.
Pat was a licensed beautician and worked for 20 years as a hairstylist for
Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri. She was a member of the Straightway
Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri and taught the Women?s Sunday School
class. Her hobbies were macramé and ceramics, which she gave away to others.
She sewed her children?s clothing when they were young. She enjoyed
decorating cakes, and making fancy bows for her grandchildren?s presents.
She also, was faithful in attending her children and grandchildren?s ball-
games.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva; stillborn son, Randy Shane
Booker; sister-in-law, Betty McCarthy; brother, Richard McCarthy and
brother-in-law, Larry Booker.
She is survived by her husband Vernon; children, Mindy Mahurin of Cook
Station, Missouri, Brian (Amy) Booker and Greg (Elizabeth Butts) Booker, all
of Steelville, Missouri; father, JC McCarthy of Steelville, Missouri;
parents-in-law, Fred (Jessie) Booker of Cook Station, Missouri;
sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Doretta (Roy) Soper, David (Chris)
Booker, Brent (Tana) Booker and Ricky (Teresa) Booker, all of Cook Station,
Missouri, Dana (Wayne) Richter of Steelville, Missouri, Donald (RuthAnn)
Booker, Michael (Pat) Booker and Debra (Don) Taylor, all of Salem,
Missouri; brother JC McCarthy, Jr. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren,
Abigail and Sydney Booker, Emily, Amy, Kaitlyn, and Jared Mahurin; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, May 28, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral service was
at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri, with Bro. Casey Reed officiating.
Darla Vance sang ?What a Day That Will Be? and ?Amazing Grace.?
Burial was in the Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Donald, Michael, David, Brent, and Ricky Booker and Denver
Mahurin.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
